The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a challenging season, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents his first championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface from that period of 2023.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my children together, so to win a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in Halle previously this season.

The player's defensive strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused observers to question if his skill to play at the highest level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an better service.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a third set.

He saved 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner clinched the title with a point at the net, with his opponent unable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
